Norway | 9 days | April-May
A remote ski & sail expedition in Arctic Norway.
Northern Norway aboard our favorite sailboat, with our favorite crew. Joining Nick and Estella on the 73' schooner SkyDancer is always a special experience. This is a dream setup for us – perfectly aligned with our style of exploratory guiding.
What makes Finnmark, Norway special? It's way out there. This is not just another Norway ski and sail trip – there are endless to choose from in the Lyngen Alps, Lofoten and Svalbard, places that are very busy these days with skiers and sailboats. Finnmark is a less explored, and less traveled region north of the Arctic circle with dramatic terrain, beautiful fjords, and rugged feel.

ITINERARY | the flow

Day 1 — ARRIVE in ALTA, NORWAY
Arrive in Alta. The easiest flight itineraries are on domestic flights from Oslo. It works best the spend a night in Oslo en route, then fly north to Alta the next day. From the Alta airport, a short taxi ride takes us to our hotel in the town where we meet the guides.
Day 2-8 — BOARD SKYDANCER, GO SKIING.
A scenic 1.5 hour van ride takes us to the town of Øksfjord, where we meet SkyDancer and get settled in. After an safety orientation from Captain Nick, we set sail for seven full days of ski exploration in the beautiful arctic fjords of Finnmark, Norway. At the end of Day 8 we return to port in Øksfjord. B, L, D
Day 9 — FLY HOME
We bid farewell to SkyDancer and drive back to Alta for our departing flights. Outbound flights on the last day can be planned for after 12pm. B

GROUP SIZE
This a small group, low ratio experience limited to 8 skiers & 2 guides.
Note that many ski and sail trips operate with just one guide at a 6:1 or even 7:1 ratio.

PRE-TRIP INFO
ARRIVAL
Fly into Alta Airport (ALF). Norwegian and SAS both fly to Alta from Oslo. Spending a night in Oslo en route can make for more civilized flight itineraries.
DEPARTURE
Departures from Alta Airport can be arranged for any time after 12pm on Day 9.
