TYLER REID

Tyler Reid is a year-round professional ski and mountain guide based in Winthrop, WA. His guiding career started on Mt. Rainier at the age of 24. In 2011 he founded Pacific Alpine Guides, originally as the only guide service based in the Olympic Mountains. Meanwhile his ambitions were always global with an emphasis on his passion, human-powered skiing.

Since then he has lead trips to Chile, Japan, Kazakhstan, Greenland, Siberia, Georgia, Antarctica, Nepal, and British Columbia. He's pioneered too many first descents to count as well as numerous first ascents. His favorite mountains on the planet are "The Wrangells" in Alaska. Every spring he makes an annual pilgrimage to guide out of Tebay Lodge, the program PAG is best known.

Tyler is an AMGA Certified Ski Guide, has AIARE Level 3 avalanche training, and is an AIARE pro course leader. When he is home in the winter he also works for North Cascade Heli guiding heli-skiing and heli-assisted ski touring.

His non-guiding passions include roots reggae music, hike & fly paragliding, photography, and video production. He resides in the hills with his wife Melissa and their two kids Kaia and Judah. In 2016, Tyler and Melissa climbed the Northeast Ridge of Mt. Everest together.

Tyler is a Norrøna and evil eye ambassador.
